Marketscape is a private-equity research firm based in Dallas, Texas. We research privately held companies and contact their owners by email, as a research firm, on behalf of buyers who are looking to acquire businesses. We are not the buyer, and we are not a business broker.

Information you give us on our website

Our website has two forms:

• Contact form (marketscape.co/contact): first name, last name, email address, phone number, and an optional message.
• Request access form (marketscape.co home page): your name, firm, work email, target sector, revenue range, and, if you choose, a geography and notes on your acquisition thesis.

We also receive any information you include when you email us or book a call with us.

Business contact and company information we research

To find companies that may fit our clients' acquisition criteria, we collect business information about privately held companies and the people who own or run them. This can include:

• Company details, such as name, website, industry, location, size and estimated revenue.
• Business contact details for owners and decision-makers, such as name, job title, business email address, business phone number and professional profile.
• Ownership and business-history information, such as how long an owner has run the company, and public-record events involving the business, such as filings, liens or litigation.
• Our own assessments, such as how well a company fits a client's criteria and whether an owner may be approaching a sale or transition.

We collect this information from public sources (such as company websites, public records, court filings and professional networking profiles) and from commercial business-data providers. We check information across sources where we can, but we do not guarantee that any particular data point is accurate or current. If you think something we hold about you or your company is wrong, please tell us.

Information from our emails and conversations

When we email you, we keep a record of the emails we send, the replies you send us, and what you tell us, for example whether you are open to a conversation, details you share about your business, and any request to stop contacting you.

Client platform users

If you are a client and sign in to our platform, we collect your account details (such as your name and email address) and information about how you use the platform.

Information collected automatically on our website

Like most websites, ours and the services it relies on receive standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you view. Our website is built with Framer and some pages load services from Framer (website platform, including site analytics), Sentry (error monitoring), Google Fonts (fonts) and Cal.com (a booking widget, which may set a security cookie). Our website does not currently use advertising cookies.

We use information to:

• Respond to enquiries and requests submitted through our website or by email.
• Identify companies that may fit a client's acquisition criteria, and research and rank them.
• Contact business owners and decision-makers, as a research firm, to ask whether they are open to a conversation with a buyer.
• Prepare research reports and company profiles ("dossiers") for our clients.
• Provide, secure and improve our website and client platform.
• Honour opt-out requests and keep records of them.
• Comply with law and protect our rights.

We do not sell personal information for money.

We share information only as described here:

• With our clients (buyers). Our clients receive research about companies that match their criteria, which can include company information, fit assessments and identified decision-maker contacts. When an owner tells us they are open to a conversation, we share a profile of the business, including what the owner told us, with the client we are working for, so the client can decide whether to make an introduction. Our clients agree to keep this information confidential.
• With brokers and advisers. If an owner tells us they are interested in selling but the opportunity is not a fit for our clients, we may refer the owner to a business broker or adviser we work with, and share the owner's contact details and the information they gave us with that broker or adviser.
• With service providers who help us run our business, such as email delivery and verification, business-data and enrichment providers, website hosting, cloud hosting and databases, scheduling, and software tools (including AI-based tools) that help us organise replies and prepare documents. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
• For legal reasons, if we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process or a government request, or is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Marketscape, our clients or others.
• In a business transfer, such as a merger, financing or sale of all or part of our business, subject to this policy.

To stop receiving our emails, reply to any of our emails with the word "unsubscribe" (or simply ask us to stop), or email connor@marketscape.co. When you opt out, we stop emailing that email address. We keep the address on our suppression list so that we do not contact it again.

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, including our ongoing research and client work, and as required for legal, accounting or record-keeping purposes. We keep opt-out records for as long as needed to honour them.

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information we hold, and we limit access to the people and service providers who need it. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can:

• Opt out of our emails at any time, as described above.
• Ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law. To make a request, email connor@marketscape.co or write to us at the address above. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request, and we will respond as required by applicable law. If you ask us to delete your information, we may keep a minimal record (such as your email address on our suppression list) so that we do not contact you again.

Our website and services are for businesses and business professionals. They are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

We are based in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be posted on this page.
